AEME 2026
University of Greenwich
22nd AEME Events Management Educators Forum
7th - 9th July 2026

The #AEME2026 overarching theme is ‘Events for a Changing World: Responsibility, Equity, and Impact’ which will explore events as sites of responsibility and contestation, as well as spaces for imagination and meaningful impact. In particular, the Forum welcomes work that critically engages with events education, its pedagogies, curricula, institutional contexts, and partnerships as a key lever for shaping ethical practice, inclusive futures, and socially responsive event professionals in an uncertain world.
The forum will take place over three days, with evening social activities, guest speakers, paper presentations, workshops, a student led fringe event, and the AEME AGM.

Events for a Changing World: Responsibility, Equity, and Impact
In a moment shaped by climate pressure, rapid technological change, widening inequalities, and shifting public trust, events become mirrors and makers. They reveal what we value, who we include, and what kinds of futures we’re willing to stage, fund, and live with.
We invite conceptual, empirical, critical, and practice-based contributions that take events seriously as sites of responsibility and contestation, as well as spaces for imagination and meaningful impact. In particular, the Forum welcomes work that critically engages with events education, its pedagogies, curricula, institutional contexts, and partnerships as a key lever for shaping ethical practice, inclusive futures, and socially responsive event professionals in an uncertain world.
Sub-themes may incorporate but are not limited to:
• Disrupting dominant narratives in events
• Equity, inclusion, and diverse knowledges
• Ethics, responsibility, and sustainable futures
• Power, agency, and transformation in the experience economy
• Industry–academia partnerships for impact
• Innovative pedagogies and assessment for a changing sector
• Events as platforms for social and cultural change
• Workforce futures, leadership, and professional values
• Innovation, technology, digital ethics, and emerging event practices
• Place, community, and regenerative event futures
We would also welcome papers on broader events-related topics: event experiences, event design, event planning & processes, event destinations, event impacts, event safety, event marketing, etc. We also welcome submissions from other related fields, such as Tourism and Hospitality Education.
We anticipate that presentations will be 20 minutes in length plus Q&A. We also encourage other inclusive and creative presentation formats, including lightning talks, workshops, panel discussions, poster presentations etc.
Please submit your proposal via the following online form here. The deadline for proposals is 5pm on the 15th of May 2026.
For queries about submissions please contact: Joanna Goodey
