Showcase and support new talent by welcoming early career researchers and doctoral students
Create national and international research and education networks
Help shape the future through round-table debates and discussions on issues relating to teaching and research assessment and funding
Enjoy a unique gala dinner in the Old Palace, Hatfield House where QEI’s Inaugural Council of State was held in 1558
Main Conference Themes - ‘Experience, Value creation, and Impact in Events Education and Research’
In light of recent political debates surrounding the fee structures, cost to run, and value of degree programmes in the UK, the sector now needs to respond
in order that HEI undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offer value for money (particularly those within the social sciences) and give students a transformational
experience. We invite abstracts under the main themes of how we create a transformational student experience, and create value and impact within our
degree programmes and through our graduates.
Sub theme: Research - Adjusting the Lens; Advancing research in Event Studies and Event Management
We also propose a sub theme for research in line with the now established critical event studies network (#CritEvents) which recognises the changing dimensions of event studies/
management research as researchers use events as a context to explore wider issues within communities and society such as health, wellbeing, animal welfare, protests, authenticity,
event spectacle, impact of local, regional, national and international policy i.e. hard/ soft Brexit. And the use of new approaches/ methodologies in which to explore the existing or
emerging areas of research such as; psychosocial, physiological, visual, new technologies/ techniques, different analysis methods, big data etc.
Sub theme: PhD Forum
We welcome PhD students to the AEME forum wherever you are on your doctoral journey do come and share your research, network and have discussions with other PhD researchers and experienced supervisors Contributions are welcomed under any of the above themes from experienced educators, researchers and practitioners, as well as early career researchers and doctoral students.
Abstracts of 250 words should be sent to aeme2019@gmail.com. Submissions should include the full title of the presentation (as it will appear in the conference programme), author(s) and affiliation, a succinct abstract of 250 words (maximum), references, 100-word author biography (including contact details), and an indication of which stream the paper falls within.
