I hope you’ll be interested in a new book that my UWS colleague Daniel Turner and I have written, due to be published in September, just in time for the new academic session! The book Event Bidding: Politics, Persuasion and Resistance takes a critical approach to the bidding process, linking it to broader urban development imperatives, politics and national promotional narratives. I’ve attached a flyer that can be shared with your networks (and which contains a discount code) and a couple of book endorsements. While there are many texts out there that contain chapters focused on the operational aspects of event bidding, I think this is one of the first books to concentrate on the broader political, economic, social and cultural dimensions of bidding. Feedback much appreciated too.
