Charity challenge, When Leeds Met Monopoly, was recently launched at Leeds City Museum in Millennium Square.
The tournament aims to register a record breaking 8,000 people to play the game and raise £250,000 for community partnerships and volunteering activities.
Guests were invited to take part and play the new Monopoly Leeds Edition, which features the University on the traditional 'Oxford Street' square. Representatives from Yorkshire Bank played the Banker at each table and those taking part included Jonathan Bairstow, Junior England and Yorkshire County Cricketer and Leeds Met student, and Victor Watson, ex-chairman of John Waddington PLC.

Victor Watson, who played the first monopoly game in 1935, commented, "It's a marvellous idea of the University to hold this event - it's a great concept which captures the imagination and encourages people to connect with their community while being very good fun at the same time."
Also taking part were local community leaders, year 7 pupils from Roundhay High School and the event sponsors, including Opera North, First Group and Yorkshire Bank.
Beverley Poole, Senior Marketing Manager from Yorkshire Bank said, "This is a brilliant initiative and it's great to get involved with the University to help build relations and make a difference in the community."
This is the first series of events which aims to be the longest monopoly tournament with the biggest number of people playing. The first heat of games will take place from February onwards with the final in May 2009.
