Meetings Professional International (MPI), the largest association and global resource on the events and conference industry, were invited to give a talk to level 3 events students to raise awareness of the benefits of student membership and the opportunities, advice and support available about this fast growing and dynamic industry.

The afternoon included presentations from major events companies such as World Events, Barclays Bank and Real Recruitment, who were keen to promote themselves to the next generation of events managers. There were also workshops and an interactive 'Dragons Den' activity to encourage networking.

Students were also given top tips on writing CVs, interview techniques, recruitment agencies and reminded of the strength and scope of the industry.

One of the presenters, Martin Parry, Managing Director from World Events commented, "Doing a specialised events degree differentiates students from other graduates providing them with a solid understanding of the events industry and Leeds Met events students are some of the best equipped with the skills and knowledge required for this sector."

This event was a chance for students to meet potential future employers and draw on the experience of industry professionals and how vital new graduate talent is in moving the industry forward.
